Veggie and vegan Indian street food? Mouth-watering and distinctly different brunch offering? Craft beer and thoughtfully crafted cocktails? If only there was somewhere in Brum where you could get it all…
Introducing Somewhere In Brum.
Located on Mary Ann Street (Jewellery Quarter), Somewhere In Brum is the plant-based hangout where you can discover crafted concoctions and vegan delights.
Is it a cocktail and craft beer bar? Is it a veggie and vegan restaurant? The answer is… a little bit of both. At Somewhere In Brum, they like to combine all of your favourite things into one awesome venue, so by day they offer you a cafe space to enjoy a cuppa and a catch-up (or get some work done) and by night they transform into a vibrant craft beer and cocktail bar and vegan restaurant.
At Somewhere In Brum they serve a completely vegetarian and vegan menu of Indian street food-style dishes, courtesy of Notty Bites. Meat-eaters will enjoy the big, bold flavours of these incredible dishes just as much as veggies and vegans, and trust us when we say you won’t miss the meat one bit! With so many delicious delights on the menu, you’ll be coming back for more each time.
The main evening menu is packed with so many goodies from their small plates such as freshly cooked vegetable samosas and beer-battered bhajis to their delicious chaats, loaded fries and nachos. For something more substantial there are a selection of banging burgers and comforting curry bowls (think Paneer Makhani, Butter Ch*cken, Tarka Dal and more). Packed full of big flavours, these yummy dishes are everything you’re dreaming of and more.
As well as their evening menu, they also serve a mouth-watering brunch menu. Expect a range of toasties, tartines and a selection of Indian-inspired dishes such as Upma (spiced semolina porridge), Poha (spiced flattened rice flakes cooked with turmeric, vegetables and spices), Masala Oats, and Dal Cheela (thick crepes made with a mixed lentil batter and cooked with chopped veggies). If you’re looking for something a little bit different to the usual brunch options, this is a wonderful place to try something new.
During the day, they operate as a cafe and you can enjoy delicious teas and coffees as well as a range of mouth-watering milkshakes and fruit and veg packed smoothies. In the evening, they serve all of your favourite drinks including a good selection of craft beer, lots of spirits and, of course, some dangerously drinkable cocktails. Enjoy some of their signature drinks like their Lychi-tini, Smoked Rum Old Fashioned or Mango Unchained, or if you prefer you can choose one of their classics (Cosmopolitan, Espresso Martini, Long Island Iced Tea, Mojito and lots, lots more).
The space itself is welcoming and inviting, and lends itself to all of its many hats – a cosy cafe, a laid-back eatery, and a vibey bar. With exposed brickwork and arches, there are some industrial nods that are very much in tune with the JQ architecture in which it resides. Whether you sit and enjoy a relaxing coffee, a long and lazy brunch, a much needed meal out, or an evening drink or two, you’ll always feel at home here.
