We are blessed in Birmingham to have an extraordinary culinary scene which boasts a wide variety of cuisines of all levels, from casual eats to tasting menus and everything in between. Whilst we’ve no shortage of excellent places to dine, and this fair city boasts a whopping 4 Michelin-starred restaurants (plus another in Solihull), we cannot help but return to the comforts and warm welcome of an old favourite. Housed within a stunning Grade II listed Georgian building in the beautiful suburb of Edgbaston, Simpsons is a delightful place to dine on some outstanding dishes, bask in the warm and friendly service of the restaurant team and enjoy the finer things in life. The restaurant has been an incubator for culinary talent, with many of the UK’s top chefs having worked there, gaining the skills and confidence to forge a glittering career.
Simpsons, with owner Andreas Antona and head chef Luke Tipping at the helm, has been at the forefront of Birmingham’s culinary scene for over a quarter of a century. The team source the finest seasonal ingredients for their mouth-watering menus and apply their wealth of experience, knowledge, techniques and expertise to transform these spectacular ingredients into creative, exciting and downright delicious dishes. Courses are constantly evolving and are tried, tested and perfected before they ever reach your plate. The courses change regularly to keep things exciting, seasonal and fresh, so no two dining experiences will be entirely the same.
There are several different menu options to choose from (available at different times, so make sure to check which menu is available for your chosen day of the week and lunch/dinner). Their signature tasting menu is called the Prestige menu and features mouth-watering snacks, seven exquisite courses and an optional cheese course. All of the dishes are incredible, as you would expect. There’s also a slightly shorter Classic Menu option which features snacks, five delicious courses and the optional cheese course, and a 3-course lunch menu too if you’re not in the mood for a tasting menu but still fancy enjoying the Simpsons experience (and this includes their famous Beef Wellington for Sunday lunch too). The Prestige menu is the greatest expression of the chefs’ talents but of course, whichever menu you choose will leave you with a truly unforgettable dining experience (and each menu has a plant-based option too so everyone can enjoy this wonderful restaurant).
The décor within the gorgeous and historic building that Simpsons calls home is bright and modern but respecting the heritage of the building.
