We love nothing more than when a fabulous local independent finally finds a permanent home.
Don’t get us wrong, we love a good residency, a one-off pop-up, and a kitchen takeover – but we also love it when our favourite pop-ups become a permanent fixture in our lives.
Introducing Lisa & Pann.
Located on Billesley Lane (Moseley), Lisa & Pann is the wonderful neighbourhood restaurant bringing Malaysian eats to Moseley’s streets.
Having spent the last few years popping up in kitchens across the city, we’re so glad that the brilliant Lisa & Pann have found a permanent residence where you can rock up and enjoy their delicious Malaysian eats whenever the mood strikes. Their tasty Malaysian dishes have won the hearts of many a Birmingham resident and now you can go and visit them as often as you like and chow down on your favourite dishes.
Owners Lee Sa Tan and Fui Peng Chong (whose nicknames are Lisa and Pann) were both born in Panang, Malaysia, and became friends at school together, and the two chefs set up their own South East Asian inspired food business back in 2017. From pop-ups, a short stint on Caroline Street and an extended kitchen residency at The Pig & Tail in the Jewellery Quarter, they have now moved their business to Moseley where they serve their trademark delicious SE Asian eats inspired by their native Malaysia and beyond.
Lisa & Pann specialise in traditional Malaysian dishes and their menu is packed full of smash hits from across South East Asia. From the likes of their Karipap Pusing (homemade curry puffs featuring flaky pastry filled with spicy curry potatoes – a delicious Malaysian street food dish) to their highly popular Nasi Kandar (a Malaysian style mixed rice dish combining steamed jasmine rice with Ayam Bawang (onion chicken) sauce or Ayam Masak Merah (chicken in sweet and spicy tomato sauce) with curry prawn, hard boiled egg, stir-fried turmeric cabbage and okra), there are so many delicious delicacies for you to try each time you visit.
Other delightful dishes available on their menu include Curry Laksa, Nasi Lemak with fried chicken and curry puff, Satay Chicken, Nasi Kerabu with Sea Bass and more! Alongside their core menu items, they also offer a range of mouth-watering specials (look out for the likes of Hainanese Chicken or Penang Hokkien Mee – a succulent prawn noodle dish, among others) and a tasty Thai lunchtime set menu.
For dessert you can’t miss their highly popular Pandan Cheesecake – a light and refreshing cheesecake served with roasted grated coconut and caramel brown sugar. The perfect end to your South East Asian feast – you definitely need to save room for a slice of this heavenly treat.
The interior at Lisa and Pann’s is laid-back and welcoming, with wooden tables and neutral colours throughout. The space has a light and bright cafe vibe but is just as cosy in an evening as it is during the day. This is the perfect place for a relaxed get together with delicious food.
