We love casual eats.
The kind of place where you can just rock up and enjoy some seriously good food and some seriously great drinks and just have a relaxed, enjoyable time.
Introducing Deli 17.
Located on Raddlebarn Road, Selly Oak, Deli 17 is the neighbourhood tapas and wine bar offering you a taste of the Mediterranean.
Deli 17 is the perfect little neighbourhood spot, where great food and drinks and great hospitality come together to provide locals with the perfect place to pop in and enjoy a casual bite to eat and some thoughtfully selected drinks. Whether you’re popping in for one of their epic sandwiches (more on those later) at lunchtime or you’re settling in for a couple of hours catching up with old friends over some tapas and a glorious glass or two of wine, this is the ideal place to do it.
So, let’s get straight to the part you all really want to hear about – the food. Deli 17 specialises in bringing Mediterranean flavours to life with their delicious tapas selection and mouth-watering focaccia sandwiches. The tapas menu is succinct with a selection of shareable hot and cold small plates such as charcuterie, croquetas, patatas bravas, spanish omelette and meat and cheese boards.
At lunch they also serve their amazing focaccia sandwiches – a big slab of freshly baked focaccia stuffed with tasty fillings including our favourite the spanish omelette sarnie (which is served on their local, fluffy focaccia with homemade hazelnut romesco, pickles, rocket and herby mayo). Carbs stuffed with more carbs = a winner. Other flavours include mortadella with mozzarella, herby sauce, tomatoes and rocket, and chorizo with manchego, piquillo peppers, mayo and rocket. All are absolutely delicious and available to eat-in or to take-out.
The drinks have been carefully chosen to compliment the food offering, so whether you’re just popping in for a quick glass or you’re settling in with a jug of sangria and some of their outrageously tasty nibbles and small plates, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The staff are super helpful and always happy to provide recommendations if you’re unsure what to choose. They serve a hand-picked selection of organic wines by the glass (see their board for the ever-changing selection) alongside the aforementioned glasses or jugs of sangria (red, white, or sparkling), cans, bottles and draught beer (a Mediterranean selection, naturally) and a couple of house cocktails. Of course, soft drinks and hot drinks are available too if you’re popping by during the day or you’re not a big drinker.
If you’re more of a homebody and fancy a night in but need some provisions, then take advantage of their deli and bottle shop too. They stock a hand-picked selection of organic wines to choose from as well as some delicious deli products. They even offer hampers so the hard work has been done for you and a selection of wine, cheese, meats and nibbles is just ready to grab and go without all of the difficult decision making. They make great gifts for friends too!
The interior at Deli 17 is laid-back and casual, the perfect place to enjoy some Mediterrnean small plates and a lovely, chilled glass of wine or cold beer, with those perfect deli-cafe vibes. The yellow and peach colour palette is fun and reflects their branding throughout, with cute gingham tablecloths adorning the cafe style tables. On sunnier days, they have some outdoor tables for al fresco sipping and dining too (who needs the Med anyway?). This really is the perfect little neighbourhood hangout.
If you’re in the market for a new neighbourhood hangout or you just want to get your hands on one of those focaccia sandwiches (and trust us, you do) then a trip to the awesome Deli 17 is a must!
