Introducing Patty Freaks.
Located in Gracechurch Centre, Sutton Coldfield, Patty Freaks is where to go when you’re craving the ultimate burger fix.
Smashed burgers are having a bit of a moment lately, and we’re here for it. If you’re in the mood for the ultimate smashed burger experience then look no further than the awesome Patty Freaks in Sutton Coldfield. Their award-winning burgers will satisfy the heftiest cravings and put a big old smile on that face of yours. Guaranteed* (*not an official guarantee, just one man’s humble opinion).
Like many of the best burger joints in Brum, these guys started their journey out on the street food circuit, slinging burgs to hungry customers at some of the best local and national events. The duo behind the brand (Pete and Allan) have known each other for over 15 years and both worked for a long time in various positions in the restaurant industry, before launching their own freaky concept in 2018. With a shared love of burgers, it was only natural that they’d open their own burger joint and they love experimenting with flavours and trying anything and everything out on a burger (indeed, that’s where the name Patty Freaks comes from because they love a freaky flavour combo).
Their new location in Sutton Coldfield (their second permanent venue, the first being in Lichfield) is housed in a former pub (in a basement – so cool) and offers up a menu of all your Patty Freaks favourites. With a great selection of burgers, sides and more, there are so many delicious flavour combinations to try!
On the menu are a wide selection of beef burgers, chicken burgers and a few different veggie burgers too, alongside a selection of sides like halloumi fries, mac ‘n’ cheese bites and cauli bites, and of course fries (and loaded fries too). With so many different (and delicious) options to try you’ll have to keep going back if you want to sample them all (and we suggest you do). Patty Freaks are known for their bold and vibrant flavour combos, and we think they’re all a must try. From the Sweet Freak (smashed beef patty, cheese, bacon, chilli jam, caramel waffle) to the Limp Brisket (smashed beef patty, smoked cheddar, bourbon bbq, pulled brisket, black pepper mayo) and the K Pop (smashed beef patty, cheese, crispy slaw, crispy onions, gochujang mayo and korean bbq), among lots of others, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to their signature smash burgers (and there are some classic flavours too).
If you prefer a chicken burger then there are some tasty options for you too. Whether you play it safe with the Chicken Plain Jane (freaks fried chicken, cheese, bacon) or you go for something braver and bolder like the Cereal Killa (freaks fried chicken, cinnamon dust, chilli jam, Cinnamon Grahams, black pepper mayo) there are some utterly delicious chicken burgs on offer here. Or if you’re looking for something without meat they have you covered too – with three different mouth-watering veggie options to choose from. There’s the Hallouminati (deep fried halloumi, crispy onion, chilli jam, garlic mayo), the Bhaji Burg (fried bhaji patty, gochujang mayo, crispy onion, chilli jam) and the Crispy Chic (cornflake fried plant based chic’n patty, with crispy slaw). To accompany your tasty feast, they have lots of drinks options with something for everyone to enjoy. From craft beer to cocktails, and soft drinks, you’ll find something you’ll love on the drinks menu.
As well as the darn tasty grub you can enjoy here, there are also some extra touches that make this place even more special – like the fact they have retro games! Yes, that’s right, while you wait for your burger you can battle it out with your pals on some fun retro games. We like their style. They also host live music too, and not just in the evening. You can often find live bands playing during the day to keep diners entertained.
The interior at Patty Freaks is a mix of the traditional pub style with street food elements thrown in. Retaining some of the old pub features but with trestle tables and benches giving it more of a street food style vibe, plus the retro gaming consoles, this is a quirky little venue. But really, it’s all about those banging burgers at this place and they’re so tasty you’ll keep coming back for more.
If you’re looking for your next burger fix, you must try Patty Freaks!
